NOTES ON THE ALBUM
Suite No. 1 is one of the most personal and emotionally charged works I have composed. It unfolds as a journey through inner landscapes—moments of birth, memory, identity, fragility, transcendence, and longing. Each movement reflects a facet of the human condition, not through a linear narrative, but through a series of emotional and spiritual transformations. The suite was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, a space that holds immense historical and symbolic weight. To bring this work to life with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the extraordinary contralto Hilary Summers was an experience of profound artistic fulfillment. I will never forget the energy in Studio 2—the same studio where so many iconic works have been captured. The walls seemed to breathe with memory. This piece is not meant to offer answers, but to create space for contemplation. It is music that listens as much as it speaks. The voice of the contralto does not narrate—it reveals. Her tone, deep and timeless, becomes a bridge between silence and sound, between presence and absence. Suite No. 1 is not just a work about sound, but about resonance—about what remains within us long after the music ends. — Vicente Álamo
