Catching Clouds comprises nine tracks that are all linked thematically. Themes of nostalgia and fantasy permeate the album as each track makes a connection to cloud types and states of being. Composed for clarinet, alto saxophone, vibraphone, and piano, the music blurs the boundaries of contemporary classical jazz, and commercial styles while also juxtaposing older, more formal patterns. The album features new music that I wrote to share not only for a full album listening experience but also for a live album concert showcase. Each of the tracks is organized keeping in mind the live performance logistics, and together creates a musical narrative as various motives and themes return in new ways throughout this multi-track
experience.
